Tamora Pierce SAL - Release 2 Design Insights

This week's release features Alanna, with one of my favorite iterations of the book covers. For Alanna we put in the necklace on the previous release, and also this sword and shield figurine. We took inspiration from the descriptions of Alanna's sword, and the pictures on different covers, and of course her shield needed to have a lioness on it!

We also have a plushie kitty laying across the top of the books, with purple eyes, because we couldn't leave out Faithful/Pounce from this section (he would have been more in the middle, but the height of the books in the first release made that difficult, so he ended up laying across Alanna's books).

The quote was chosen in part because it would fit on the small books, but also because Alanna truly does believe in deeds, not words. She proves that over and over again in her books, and shows that you need to be the change that you want, not just wait for it to happen for you.
